RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball player Vicktor Arnick has been selected as the Great American Conference Player of the Week after the Weevils posted a 2-0 record last week, improving the overall team record to 19-2.
Arnick, a senior, averaged 21.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and shot 62 percent from the field going 13-for-21 in wins over Henderson State and Harding. He also totaled one steal, one block, and knocked down six total three-pointers throughout the week.
"Vicktor had a huge week," head coach Kyle Tolin said. "He has continued to work hard and get better over the course of the year. He is playing like a senior should down the stretch of the season. He has helped lead us throughout the season. He has practiced well and you can count on him day in and day out, and I am so thrilled for him and this honor."
The Dallas, Texas native began the week with a 19 point performance at home against HSU and added six rebounds in the 78-72 victory last Thursday night.
Two days later, Vicktor led the UAM offense against GAC opponent, Harding University, in a 95-94 triple overtime win in Searcy, Arkansas. This was the first ever triple overtime game in the history of men's basketball in the GAC, and the first for Arkansas-Monticello since the 1999-2000 season. Arnick recorded 24 points on 7-for-10 shooting from the field, and added a one block and one steal to his stat-line as well.
