In the first game of the afternoon for UAM (9-5, 3-1 GAC) against Southeastern (7-7, 1-3 GAC), the Blossoms struggled offensively against the Savage Storm, only generating two hits overall from Maranda Clendenin, and Meagan Duchesne.
Kendra Coleman (6-1) suffered her first loss on the year after allowing two runs in the bottom of the first, but shut down SOSU for the remainder of the contest.
Game two against Southeastern saw UAM on the board first after a McKenzie Rice two-run home-run gave the Blossoms the advantage in the top of the third inning. Clendenin gave Arkansas-Monticello back the lead in the top of the fifth after a grand slam home-run surged UAM ahead to a 6-4 lead.
UAM continued to show off its power in the sixth inning as Rice blasted her second home-run of the game, and Clendenin recorded her second of the game as well in the top of the seventh to give the Blossoms the 9-4 lead to take game four over the Savage Storm. Both McKenzie and Maranda combined for all nine RBIs in this match-up as Clendenin totaled six and Rice added three.
Maylie Bain (3-1) recorded her third victory of the year, and Kendra Coleman (S, 1) earned her first save of the season after throwing 1.2 scoreless innings.
Arkansas-Monticello will be back in action next Friday-Saturday, March 3-4 as the Blossoms will travel to Bethany, Oklahoma to take on GAC foe Southern Nazarene in a four-game series with game one scheduled for 1 p.m.
