BARTLESVILLE, Oklahoma - The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team was defeated by Harding in the opening round of the GAC Tournament by a final score of 77-45.
UAM (11-16, 8-14 GAC) contended against the top seeded Bisons of Harding (25-3, 21-1 GAC) in the opening quarter only trailing HU 13-7. The Blossoms unfortunately were outscored in each of the following quarters, and ultimately fell by a final score of 77-45.
Offensively Arkansas-Monticello was led by Treasure Evans with 13 total points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field. Evans also went on to total six rebounds, and added one assist, one block and one steal to her stat-line.
Senior Nelsha Peterson finished the match-up with seven total points, and lead UAM with seven total rebounds as well.
Final team statistics for the UAM included shooting 33 percent (17-for-52) from the field, 15 percent (2-for-13) on three's, and 64 percent (9-for-14) on free throws. The Bisons finished the night shooting 45 percent (27-for-60) overall, 53 percent beyond the arc (10-for-19), and 82 percent (14-for-17) from the free throw line.
