RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball player Brian Ray has been named the Great American Conference Player of the Week after the Weevils posted a 3-1 record last week.
Ray, a junior, recorded a .571 overall batting average for the week, along with one home-run, six RBIs, five runs scored, and a slugging percentage of 1.143.
The Crossett, Arkansas native began the week after going 2-for-3 with two runs, one home-run, and two RBIs against Mississippi College in a non-conference match-up.
Brian then followed up with a 3-for-4 afternoon with one run, one triple, and three RBIs in the opening series game against GAC opponent Southeastern Oklahoma State. Ray finished up the final two games of the series going a combined 3-for-7 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI to help fuel the Weevils in the conference sweep over the Savage Storm.
UAM will return to the field next on Wednesday, March 1 as the Weevils will host Harding University in a non-conference match-up with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.
